About Me

First and foremost, I am a born-again believer, and I am trusting completely in God’s grace and love to see me through each moment of each day.

I’m also a sinner, and I struggle daily with this whole widowhood thing; but there is a fun side to my life and so here’s a few odd tidbits about me.

Obviously I’m a widow (with a sarcastic side). My beloved husband went home to glory in November 2014. He was my best friend for 40 years—and I give God all the glory for that as I probably wasn’t the best person to live with at times. LOL  Oh, and you can blame my late husband for the sarcasm, as he taught me well.

My family: I have 3 wonderful “sons in the faith," 3 wonderful daughters-in-law, and 4 beautiful granddaughters. Two of my sons are in California, and the third is in Florida.

Coffee or tea? Yes, please. I like hot coffee (decaf, thanks), and iced tea (again, decaf). No sugar. No cream.

Being a widow is filled with challenges, and one of those challenges is learning to cook healthy meals for ONE person. I recently discovered microwave meals in a mug. What a great way to make healthy dishes, in small individual quantities. One of my favorite web sites is Bigger Bolder Baking.

I’m not sure how I lived without a microwave all these years, and now I scour the Internet searching out microwave meals.

I love my Bible. It is my constant companion and where I find strength to face each day.

I used to be an avid crocheter and even had some patterns published; but overdoing anything means I hurt my hands and now I seldom crochet or cross stitch.

I do enjoy simple machine quilting, and am planning on starting back up this winter when the rain falls and the wind howls.

I also read, read, read. I can turn on some soft instrumental music (Christian or classical) and sit down and read for hours on end, while the dust bunnies party around me.

I have a small collection of chicken/rooster salt & pepper shakers: the older and smaller the better. Plus I like miniature figurines and such. I also like to paint rocks. Under a painted rock is a great place for a dust bunny to hide.

I grow air-plants, and thanks to the wonderful weather where I live, I also have a nice succulent garden. When I lived where it was hot all summer, I had an extensive cactus garden. Do you see a pattern here? Yup, they all survive with neglect. HAHA  If a plant requires TLC, don’t send it to me, as I guarantee it will be dead within a few months.

Favorite treats: spice drops, red vines, Westminster oyster crackers, and gooey cake.

Favorite Bible verses:
  • “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”—Joshua 1:9 (NASB)
  • “…to whom God willed to make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.”—Colossians 1:27
